Meet Tyler and Megan! These two are some of the sweetest people you will ever meet! From our first meeting, I just knew they were my dream clients and I couldn’t have been more excited when they chose me to be a part of their big day! Their story begins back at high school where they met in their junior year. Mutual friends had set Megan up with one of Tyler’s friends, however as the night progressed, it was Tyler who stole her heart with his sweet laugh! Megan said “before I knew it, he was watching me cheer at every football/basketball game, and I was wearing his Central Catholic hoodie”!
Their first date together was with a group of friends at Kennywood’s Fright Night. Megan said, “Ty knows I HATE clowns, so he made it easy for me to slyly snuggle up to him without him knowing I had a HUGE crush on him! We took our first picture together that night, and I knew from that night forward, he was my forever.” As their feelings deepened for each other, they spent a lot more time together going on adventures to new places. They love discovering new restaurants, going to the grocery store together, cooking together, and “anything that we can laugh together while doing”.
When I asked Megan how Tyler popped the big question, she said that “Tyler had talked about going out for a nice dinner for weeks to just celebrate us both getting jobs and finally ‘adulting’. We searched for a nice place to go on Mt. Washington, chose a good night, and made our plans. When the night finally came two weeks later, I got home from work, changed into a dress, and patiently waited while Tyler was late to pick me up from getting his hair cut. This is when I was starting to get a little suspicious, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up just yet”. When Tyler did arrive, they were off for their fancy night out on the town! They had reservations at Bella Vista where they sat in a corner booth with an amazing view of the city. Both being born and raised in Pittsburgh, the cityscape holds a special significance to them. After they enjoyed a wonderful meal with even better company, they decided to take a ride on the incline and end the night overlooking the city on one of the overlooks back on Mt. Washington. While they were enjoying the lights of the city, a large family (3 generations!) who had also been on the incline with them, asked them to take a quick picture of their family. Afterwards, Tyler asked them to take a picture of him and Megan. Megan admitted that “this was the fishy part for me because I’m usually the one begging to take photos together!” Despite her suspicion, she got ready for a picture when “Tyler took both of my hands. I could feel him shaking like a leaf and he started to tremble as he spoke about our time together and how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me… and I started sobbing like a baby, obviously! Then he dropped down on one knee (the giant family is also sobbing and cheering at this point!), and asked me to spend forever with him! After 6+ years of hoping this man would also want to spend forever with me, I screamed ‘YES, YES, YES’!!” Megan said she wouldn’t say she knew what the night was going to hold, but Tyler had been playing with the ring she always wore on her ring finger for the past couple weeks, so “I was extremely hopeful because the night was just that perfect!”
Since Mt. Washington clearly plays a significant role in the start of their forever together, what better place to have their engagement session?! Megan and Tyler met me on a cloudy December day at Point State Park where we started their session before ending up on Mt. Washington overlooking their beautiful city. Tyler had recently accepted a new job opportunity in Texas, with Megan to move out shortly after the holidays, so it was really special for me to have chance to capture some images of this sweet couple before they start this new chapter in a fun new city. See below for a few of my favorites from their session!
